That’s exactly what one Alabama congressman did during a recent tour of his district.
U.S. Representative Mike Rogers (R-Saks) visited Jacksonville Health & Rehab while touring Alabama’s third congressional district.
Upon his arrival, Congressman Rogers was greeted by residents of the nursing home. Staff members gave the six-term congressman a tour of the facility’s new rehabilitation unit, which includes a large, state of the art therapy gym and private rooms for patients. During the tour, Jacksonville Health & Rehab staff members updated Congressman Rogers on new trends in the long term care profession and how Alabama continues to rank higher than the national average in the federal government’s health care quality measures for nursing homes.
Before leaving, Congressman Rogers told the staff that his grandmother lived at the facility several years ago.
“We appreciate Congressman Rogers taking a few moments out of his busy schedule to visit our residents and tour our community,” Jacksonville Health & Rehab Administrator Brantley Newton said. “I think we were able to give him a better understanding of the broad range of services nursing homes offer and how we provide high quality health care effectively and efficiently.”
This is not the first time Congressman Rogers has visited a nursing home in his district. In February, he visited a nursing home in Phenix City to honor a resident celebrating his 110th birthday. You can read that story here.
